The Director, Women's Health Safety & Quality Program is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses - are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association.

Job Summary: The Director Women's Health Safety & Quality Program is responsible for the strategy & successful operation of the women's health program and initiatives that address overall Quality, Safety and Outcomes across Wellstar Health System. This Director serves as a resource to all levels of staff and leadership for system-wide initiatives including the Women's Alliance for Healthier Outcomes (WAHOO) Program, Women's Health Safety & Quality Program, High Risk/Cardio OB Navigation Program, ERAS/ERAC, and Patient Experience as it relates to Women's Health. The Director requires safety & quality experience, self-direction, attention to detail and follow-up, and ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, and physicians. In conjunction with providers and members of the Women's Health Service Line, the Director is responsible for guidance and coordination of safety & quality services for women's health patients and their caregivers through the continuum of care. This leader will collaborate with site-level leaders to assure programs are in place to meet safety, quality, and patient experience goals. Other responsibilities include achieving quality outcomes and customer / patient satisfaction in a fiscally responsible manner. The Director can perform job functions utilizing independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative with ability to interact and direct successful operation within multidisciplinary specialty groups across the Wellstar Health System. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: - Womens Health Safety Quality Program - Responsible for building and leading the Womens Health Safety Quality Program including developing strategies to standardize and expand our WAHOO program, High Risk Navigation, ERAS/ERAC, and Patient Experience. - This position will lead the expansion of Systemwide site specific committees to support Womens Health Safety Quality initiatives including development of clinical care pathways, high risk nurse navigators, develop and implement programmatic system goals. - Serve as Safety Quality Lead for Womens Health Committees. Responsibilities will include setting direction for womens health clinical education across the system in collaboration with the Director of Womens Health Education and Support Services. - Responsible for implementing safety quality education around focus-year initiative, including oversight of simulation drills. - Responsible for implementing ERAS ERAC education across the system, including monitoring of compliance. - Assists with the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, and standards of care for womens health patients; ensures consistency with clinical guideline documents, and hospital-wide policies recognized regulatory and specialty standards. - Develops guidelines for womens health high-risk/high-cost patients through clinical pathway systems. - Utilizes outcome data to improve practice, process flow and evidenced practices. - Implements and continuously aligns processes to maintain and improve quality outcomes. - Promotes performance improvement initiatives designed to enhance quality patient care and improve work processes, especially focusing on clinical and operational outcomes. Promotes safety in the work environment and delivery of patient care. Assures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. - Maintains metrics for navigator performance and assists with education and orientation activities. - Quality / Safety and Accreditation - Monitors key outcome data for all womens health clinical areas. Utilizes outcome data to improve practice, process flow and evidenced practices. - Implements and continuously aligns processes to maintain and improve quality outcomes. - Promotes performance improvement initiatives designed to enhance quality patient care and improve work processes, especially focusing on clinical and operational outcomes. - Promotes safety in the work environment and delivery of patient care. Assures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. - Meets or exceeds performance and quality improvement standards for assigned area (womens health services) - Ensures compliance of State, Federal, Joint Commission regulations in all departments. - Ensures high quality, cost effective, patient-centered care is delivered in all areas of responsibility. - Monitors patient satisfaction surveys on an on-going basis and makes appropriate recommendations, changes based on trending and survey results. - Provide timely follow-up with patient / family concerns or issues. Ensures timely service recovery performed as needed by all departments. - Oversight of TJC Perinatal Levels of Care Certification across the system - Leadership - Provides strategic safety quality direction for Wellstar Womens Health Service Line across multiple departments and multiple service locations. - Demonstrates leadership in critical thinking, conflict management and problem solving. - Exhibits and promotes a can-do attitude. Supports or leads affiliated committees, task force and other groups to support womens health safety, quality patient experience programs across the system. - Supports organized patient, employee, and physician satisfaction activities to increase metrics as measured by NRC and the Trust Index - Routinely review opportunities in areas of responsibility and develop solutions. - Establish and monitor key departmental performance metrics for quality, throughput, patient satisfaction. - Leads various quality and growth efforts with key stakeholders such as the Medical Director, Chief of Womens Health, AVP Womens Health and team. - Serves as a Leader for the System Womens Health Safety Quality Program and establish positive working relationships within the team and with the multidisciplinary groups they interact with the team which includes physicians Required Minimum Education:
  • Masters Nursing or Masters Business Administration/Management or Masters Health Administration or Masters Public Health
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • Reg Nurse (Single State)-Preferred or RN - Multi-state Compact-Preferred
  • Basic Life Support-Preferred
Additional License(s) and Certification(s): Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Georgia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Advance Practice Registered Nurse Preferred. National certification in nursing administration or clinical specialty preferred. ACLS/BLS preferred. Preferred Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in healthcare Required and Minimum 3 years progressive operational leadership Required and Minimum 3 years womens health experience Preferred Required Minimum Skills: Self-directed and able to prioritize, organize, execute, and complete several tasks / projects simultaneously. High Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication. High Demonstrated ability to educate others as a positive change agent. High Ability to communicate in a culturally diverse environment. High Maintains confidentiality High Strong customer service skills, inter and intra departmental coordination of patient care activities, strong detail orientation, and ability to work with multiple leaders that coordinate with this role.
