The department of Public Safety has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Emergency Management Coordinator 2 to work at UHealth. The Emergency Management Coordinator develops and supports emergency preparedness activities for the University of Miami emergency management program. More specifically, the emergency management coordinator will directly support how the University mitigates against, prepares for, responds to, and recovers from all-hazards. This position is responsible for maintaining and creating All-Hazards Emergency Management Training & Exercise program for the UHealth & Miller School of Medicine to ensure compliance with all regulatory, and accreditation authorities.

  • Develops and facilitates training programs and organizes drills to prepare staff for how to respond to major emergencies and disasters.
  • Conducts periodic hazard/risk analysis to assist in updating and distributing the emergency response plan.
  • Creates and manages campus and University emergency response, continuity, and other plans that define how the University mitigates against, prepares for, responds to, and recovers from all-hazards.
  • Maintains disaster equipment and supplies and ensures that all disaster resources are easily accessible and available for rapid deployment following a disaster.
  • Acts as liaison to local fire and police personnel and other external parties likely to have either a response or support role following a disaster.
  • Provides oversight of campus emergency management programs. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Some examples of plans the incumbent would be working on; Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, Emergency Operations Plan, UReady Continuity of Operations Plans, Hurricane Plan, Point of Distribution Plan, Evacuation and Shelter plans, CBRNE and Terrorism response plans.
  • Ensures compliance with all Regulatory, Accreditation and Standard Setting authorities having jurisdiction for Emergency Management Elements of Preference and Conditions of Participation including; Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, OSHA, NFPA, AAAHC and others.
  • Acts as liaison to local fire and police personnel and other external parties likely to have either a response or support role to the facility before during and after a disaster.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
  • 2 years Emergency Management experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • FEMA (300, 400) Required to be completed by end of first year
  • Framework for Healthcare Emergency Management (FRAME) Completed by end of first year

Preferred Qualifications
  • NIMS ICS All-Hazards Planning Section Chief (L-962 PSC) (Preferred)
  • 2 years Business Continuity or Emergency Management Planning experience (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Must possess to an exemplary degree the initiative, ability, and sound judgment to act independently as principal person in charge of the shift with capacity and willingness to make a strong contribution in all administrative and technical matters pertaining to the University Emergency Management programs.
  • Leadership qualities necessary to effectively communicate ideas and elicit cooperation at all levels.
  • Must demonstrate consistent good judgment in dealing with emergency, complex and/or stressful situations.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must show proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
