Job Description Summary

Participate in a paid internship program built around your career goals and hands-on projects that impact the organization. As part of the Lamb Weston University Recruiting Internship Program, Interns work towards completing a Capstone project and are assigned a mentor who will guide and evaluate performance. Whether you are interested in Agricultural Science, Data Science, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Manufacturing, Food Science, Marketing, or Engineering, our highly selective summer intern program has projects that will help you build the next stage in your career.

Job Description

Support the Lamb Weston Global Engineering team with several projects related to engineering in the manufacturing industry. A skilled mentor with be assigned to the intern for the duration of the internship. This mentor will provide training and complete weekly reviews to assess progress and answer questions.

Interns will be assigned projects based on their skill sets and area of interest. Projects and duties that may be assigned include but are not limited to:

Process Support (Utilities):

• With a focus on improving efficiencies of our plant equipment, this position will utilize existing tools and apply engineering principles to develop the structure, process, and plan to improve reliability and efficiencies in the manufacturing process support areas of boilers & steam systems, as well as refrigeration systems.
  
• Work independently and engage with current Lamb Weston staff across different departments, in addition to following industry standards in the execution of assignments
  
• Assist in updating and maintaining specifications for HVAC equipment and components, including air handling units, ductwork, insulation materials, and filtration systems.
  
• Research industry standards, codes, and regulations related to HVAC system design and engineering.
  
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure specifications meet project requirements and comply with relevant standards and guidelines.
  
• Gain knowledge in boiler feedwater chemicals, including their types, applications, and effects on boiler performance.
  
• Support the engineering team in reviewing and revising technical documents, drawings, and design calculations related to HVAC systems and boiler feedwater treatment.
  
• Participate in site visits and inspections to gain practical experience and support project implementation.
  
• Learn to use engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar programs to create and update design documentation.
  
• Provide support to the engineering team in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to HVAC systems and boiler feedwater treatment.
  

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of an Engineering or related program
  
• Juniors, Seniors, or Master's degree students preferred but also accepting recent grads
  
• Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred
  
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to meet the Lamb Weston Authorized Driver standards
  
• Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
  
• Ability and willingness to work independently
  
• Strong analytical skills
  
• Strong computer competency and experience using a tablet and/or iPhone
  
• Experience with MS suite of products desirable

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable hourly estimate for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $22.00
