Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Engineering Manager directs and coordinates activities of the design and process engineering teams to design, manufacture and test components, products and systems.

You Will Have the Opportunity to:

  • Manages engineering staff and their activities; increase staff's level of competence; train and mentor staff
  • Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, assist with improving production techniques and develop test procedures.
  • Improve design and process reliability. Implement SPC (statistical process control), DOE (design of experiments and other world class manufacturing techniques as appropriate
  • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing products
  • Documents processes related to Design, Process and Testing of product. Creates and maintains
  • Support process engineering on complex manufacturing issues.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly
  • Participates in the planning and realization of Engineering's goals and strategies
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics required, Master Degree preferred
  • 8+ years related experience or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong background in vacuum technology, thin film coating, optical coating is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of engineered films
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Since Materion Precision Optics and Thin Film Coatings is a Department of Defense cleared facility, the candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. National, or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S. (also, called a green card holder).
