Salary: $110,000.00 USD Annually - $140,000.00 USD Annually
Description:
Our Hastings, MN manufacturing client has an immediate need for an Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities: The Engineering Manager oversees all aspects of the engineering function, from planning programs to aligning engineering activities with organizational objectives. Leading cross-functional teams, they ensure successful product outcomes from concept to market introduction. Key responsibilities include:

Materials, Process & Technology Leadership:

  • Lead Design Engineering, Tooling Development, and New Technology/Materials Development efforts.
  • Formulate and lead cross-functional teams to enhance new product processes using Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma techniques.
  • Collaborate with Sales and R&D for successful launch of new materials and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality idea-to-launch and portfolio management processes.
  • Stay abreast of market benchmarks, best practices, and post-launch reviews to improve processes and product design.
  • Provide technical leadership in development processes, implementing Design for Manufacturability standards.
  • Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing methods and technologies.
  • Foster internal and external customer relationships to ensure effective utilization of components, materials, and tools.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with company visions and initiatives.
  • Evaluate, justify, and execute Capital needs per Strategic Plan.
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Extrusion Experience
  • Tool and Die Experience
  • Ability to foster a great team environment and culture.
Facilitator/Educator:
  • Engage cross-functional teams at various levels within the organization.
  • Ensure team members understand their roles and execute them effectively, emphasizing design for manufacturability.
  • Set measurable goals and objectives, providing consistent performance feedback.
  • Regularly review individual progress and provide advice and direction.
  • Offer opportunities for skill enhancement through external training and development.
  • Stay updated on engineering technology and trends, fostering innovation within the company.
  • Collaborate with plant management on evaluating and purchasing manufacturing equipment.
Interpreter/Communicator:
  • Communicate with stakeholders to identify engineering and tooling needs and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Keep the department informed of overall company performance and objectives.
  • Meet with customers as needed to understand requirements and explore improvement opportunities.
Qualifications: Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering field, Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years of custom profile extrusion experience with increasing responsibility.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience of technical staff.
  • Thermoplastic materials technology development experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in Extrusion Tool & Die.
Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities to coordinate workflow.
  • Results-oriented with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Strong decision-making and independent thinking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD/CAM programs (e.g., SolidWorks), and relevant software.
  • Proficient in conflict management, influencing, and negotiation.
