Primary Position Function/Summary:

This Program Coordinator position is to work as a team member with all Extension staff in responding to local requests for information and assisting with program delivery support. This full time, 12 month position based in the McLean County office is available contingent upon annual funding. This position will coordinate ANR programs for Livingston, McLean, and Woodford counties. The Program Coordinator will provide primary responsibility to the specific tasks listed below.

  • Coordinate the recruitment, training, communications, reporting, and recognition of the Master Gardener and Master Naturalist volunteer organizations.
  • Serves as primary staff liaison for the Master Gardner and Master Naturalist programs and assists the volunteers in their activities as needed, including expansion of curriculum and public-teaching opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance and maintenance of local program policy and by-laws for the Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, as needed.
  • Sets up and attends volunteer meetings. Reports to Educators on volunteer activities.
  • Develops plans to involve volunteers in specific educational activities, which includes recruitment and training.
  • Coordinates the logistics and activities for volunteer program-related tasks, such as travel arrangements, food, equipment, facilities, and other supplies.
  • Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and/or utilize volunteers.
  • Assists with the planning of educational activities in ANR in conjunction with other staff and volunteers.
  • Assists with the development of marketing plans and goals to recruit targeted ANR participants for educational activities? assemble mailing database? and develops advertising and publicity for the activities in conjunction with Educators, Unit Publicity and Promotion Specialist.
  • Assist with educating the public about ANR program offerings, including creating and setting up displays at county/community fairs and festivals.
  • Assists in formulating and insuring the implementation of standard operating procedures for program activities, including guidelines to insure the safety and welfare of participants.
  • Conducts the evaluation of program activities, develops impact statements, and recommends continuation, modification, or discontinuance of the program.
  • Works with staff and volunteers to collect, process, and maintain program records and data.
  • Submit contact reports, activity reports and program reports on a monthly basis.
  • Complies with all Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity policies and guidelines in all aspects of Extension work? assists Unit staff with data collection for Affirmative Action, Gender, and Targeted reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by County Extension Director and Horticulture Educator.
  • Participates in staff development and professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
  • High school graduation or GED
  • Any one or any combination that equals four (4) years/ 48 months of responsible volunteer or professional work experience in coordinating educational and/or community programs or activities
    • Volunteer/work experience coordinating educational and/or community programs or activities
    • College coursework in any field of study
      • 60 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals three (3) years (36 months)
      • 120 semester hours or more equals four (4) years (48 months)

    This Extension Program Coordinator - Bloomington, IL Extension position is a 100%-time, benefits-eligible Civil Service position. The work schedule is to be determined (37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year). The minimum salary is $19.48 per hour.
