POSITION X2252              Extension Specialist, Vaccine Education Program Manager                                                                           LOCATION                         Department of Family & Consumer Sciences, UT Extension, Institute of Agriculture, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN
 EFFECTIVE DATE               July 1, 2022 SALARY AND BENEFITSSalary is commensurate with training and experience. This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon performance and funding. Benefits include group hospitalization and life insurance; State Employees Retirement; Workers’ Compensation; sick and annual leave; numerous University of Tennessee and state benefits programs, including liberal time off for holidays and longevity pay after three years of service; reimbursement for official travel. JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Extension Specialist is responsible to the Assistant Dean for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) and works under programmatic direction of the project Principal Investigator/Associate Professor for Community Health. This position will be responsible for a range of activities related to implementation of day-to-day operations, reporting, and evaluation for the grant-funded TN Vaccine Education program. Included activities are operational and fiscal management; leadership for planning, implementing and evaluating the statewide vaccine education program; delivering current, research-based subject matter information and educational training for Extension agents and community partners; curriculum development; evaluation coordination; and planning and conducting regional and statewide events.

Qualifications
Duties

    Financial accounting and coordination of grant budget/expenditures and development of processes to support data tracking and reporting.Ensure grant compliance and accurate and timely reporting of financial and performance reports. Coordinate team meetings, create and maintain communication with team members, organize workflow, track progressCoordinate curriculum development activities, to include lesson guides, tip sheets, PPTs and other visual mediaCoordinate development of implementation manuals, guides, and other educational resources to support project implementationCoordinate and conduct in-service training for Extension agents, Community Nurse Navigators, community partners, and volunteersPlan and conduct training and educational programming as needed through in-person and digital methods Assist Extension agents and Community Nurse Navigators as needed with implementation in communitiesCooperate with evaluator to develop and execute needs assessment strategies and data collection necessary for project executionDevelop and communicate reporting guides for Extension agents Interpret outcome data for internal and external grant reportingCoordinate publicity of program activities with appropriate internal unitsCoordinate web and social media communication of educational and program information to the public
REQUIREMENTSEducation: 
    Master's degree in a related field (public health, health education/promotion, family & consumer sciences, public administration, health services administration, etc.) or substantial work experience demonstrating proficiency in understanding and application of public health principles or adult education strategies in alignment with the appointment.
Experience: 
    Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management role Experience working with diverse, multicultural groups, including racial and/or ethnic minorities and other traditionally underrepresented groups.
Preferred experience:
    5 years’ experience in project managementExperience in grant coordination/management and reporting Experience working with Extension agentsExperience working in communities
Job Skills:
    Demonstrated ability to manage and monitor grant budgets, deliverables, and reporting.  Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of constituencies including staff, faculty, and community partners.Excellent organizational skills; demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment, work independently, communicate effectively, and collaborate with interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to form and facilitate work of advisory committees including internal and external stakeholders.  Demonstrated ability to supervise Exempt, Non-Exempt or student employees working on program. Demonstrated ability to work with volunteers and do all Minors on Campus checks. Demonstrated skills to develop educational materials, conduct innovative programs, and teach effectively through in-person and digital means. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, social media, and other technologies required to fulfill role.
