SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform repairs and modifications to drywall, plumbing and electrical systems. Coordinates vendor services for the facilities and ensures the facilities are safe, clean, organized and maintained to a high standard.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Performs maintenance and repairs including, but not limited to drywall, plumbing, electrical and pneumatic systems.
* Manages hazardous waste storage, inspection, collection services and recordkeeping.
* Maintains cleanliness and organization of the facility and storage areas.
* Utilizes CMMS to record work needed and performed and to track contractor scheduling and job status.
* Primary point of contact for facilities construction projects, contractor and vendor services including but not limited to building trades, uniforms first aid supplies, cafeteria vending, waste collection, janitorial and forklift services.
* Point of contact for facilities compliance, e.g., water testing, fire systems inspections, emergency lighting inspections and insurance audits.
* Manages hazardous waste storage, inspection, collection services and recordkeeping.
* Ensures that all contractors and visitors to the property follow CIT policies and safety requirements.
* Maintains visitor records and ensures appropriate PPE are available to visitors.
* Monitors and maintains supplies levels as needed.
* Daily engagement with leadership team and support personnel, to gather updates and information on needed actions and projects.
* Identifies and implements improvements needed for facilities, functionality, cleanliness and appearance standards.
* Works with landlord as needed to coordinate facilities repairs.
* Works with COS and EHS Managers to support lean initiatives and visual management, such as 5s and SQDC, for example by hanging pictures or boards or installing safety guards.
* Performs and/or participates in facilities audits including, but not limited to Safety, 5S and hazardous waste.
* Backup for storm water sampling.
* Assists with special projects including office moves, furniture installation/reconfiguration, setting up/cleaning up conference rooms and patios for events/large meetings, and other duties assigned.
* Participates in continuous improvement projects and 5s related performance teams.
* Manages facility recycling program.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

* This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Carlisle Interconnect Technologies is a clean facility, housing different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

* ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toed shoes, in specific locations
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses
* Hearing protection, in specific locations
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis

* High school diploma or GED.
* Five years of experience in a facilities maintenance role.
* Contractor management experience.
* Experience in Lean Manufacturing environment preferred.
* Basic understanding of building fire alarm systems.
* Commercial Building, Hotel Maintenance, Industrial Building Maintenance backgrounds applicable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

* Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
* Journeyman tradesman preferred.
* Forklift certified.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
* Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

JOB SKILLS

* Quality workmanship in plumbing, commercial and industrial electrical installations, drywall repair, painting and minor carpentry.
* Forklift operation.
* Contractor Management.
* Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
* Ability to self-supervise and work independently.
* Knowledge of OSHA and Cal OSHA compliance standards is helpful in this role.
* Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and ability to learn ERP/CMMS reporting and functionality.
* Ability to be flexible and able to function comfortably in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive focus for self and team.
* Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders and/or special projects to meet customer demands.
* A team player that can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills with high ethical standards and a positive professional image.
