• Evaluates and assists employees who are injured or become ill while at work.
• Performs pre-employment health screenings, drug screenings (pre-employment, random, post-accident, and for cause).
• Maintains all medical records.
• Handles worker's compensation cases, provides return to work notices, and ensures accurate record keeping.
• Acts as a liaison on health matters between employee, doctors, physical therapists and insurance representatives. Reviews such items as physician reports on employee health, workers' compensation insurance claims, medical restrictions on employee work, and the policies and procedures of the medical department.
• Coordinates various medical programs such as: Audiometric Testing and hearing conservation, Vision Testing, Driver DOT physicals, PIT physicals, and other training programs such as, Bloodborne Pathogen and Hazardous Communication, First Aid, First Responder, and CPR.
• Coordinates quarterly initiatives with local organizations to inform employees of community/local offerings and learning opportunities related to their own health and promoting involvement in their community.
• Orders and maintains medical supplies and keep medical department adequately supplied.
• Assists and give recommendations on ADA accommodation requests.
• Trains and supervises facility first-responder teams.

Overview

The Facility Nurse will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the occupational health programs at the Distribution Centers in the Winston-Salem/Rural Hall area facilities. They will work one-on-one with employees, as well as in groups, on maintaining good health, reduction of health risks, and promotion of wellness for all employees. They will be responsible for providing professional-level support of employee health programs, company loss-control programs, training programs, and in-plant medical assistance programs.
Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

• Must have a license in good standing with NC Board of Nursing.
• LPN license from accredited nursing program; RN license preferred.
• Certification in Occupational Health (COHN or COHN-S)- preferred.
• 1-3 years of occupational health experience in a manufacturing/warehousing environment preferred.
• Current instructor certification in CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens preferred.

Knowledge, Skiils and Experience required are:

• Ability to work independently
• Implementing and following all state and federal OSHA and nursing guidelines in a manufacturing/distribution facility.
• Assessing and planning direct and efficient care for the health and wellbeing of patient
• Recording medical history and symptoms
• Monitoring patient health and recording signs
• Administering medications and treatments
• Taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
• Educating patients about prevention and management of illnesses
