Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting and payroll team and oversee accounting functions for the company
  • Responsible for the monthly preparation of accurate financial reports and supporting schedules
  • Responsible for month-end Work in Process report
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of the daily transactions and journal entries
  • Operation of the general ledger system, journal entries and month-end close work
  • Monthly entries, depreciations, accruals, and reconciliation of balance sheet and intercompany accounts
  • Preparation of monthly reports for the parent Company
  • Monitor weekly payrolls for unionized workers
  • Supervise the preparation and remittance of monthly payroll taxes and fringes
  • Assist in the annual audit and preparation of financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of tax return
  • Assist in the budget process and periodic forecast updates
  • Collaborate in the analyses of financial statements
  • Cash flow and collection forecasts
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) or more years related experience; with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the construction industry
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a high level of ability working with spread sheets.
  • Detailed knowledge of Work in Process reporting and Percent of Completion accounting
  • Decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well versed in systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task, work in high pressure environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and very detail oriented.
  • Proactive and solution oriented.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional judgment, discretion and professional courtesy.
  • Construction experience for a heavy civil contractor is a big plus
