We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:

Perform a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in one or more of a variety of food service environments. May prepare salad items, hot foods, and/or cold foods, and/or assist in the preparation of bakery items, as appropriate to the position. Assist in cleaning work areas, equipment, and utensils. May assist in the setup, and service; and collection of garbage/trash; as appropriate to the area of operation. May serve food to customers and/or perform cashiering duties, as appropriate. Position may require travel to additional campuses. Scheduling hours may be between 6am to 10pm Monday through Sunday.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up food service, kitchen, or salad area facilities, equipment, and utensils, under detailed instruction and, in accordance with specific area needs; check food temperatures and/or prepare areas for daily operations; may operate cooking equipment as assigned.
• Convey food and supplies from the kitchen, storeroom, and/or cold/hot preparation area to the serving site either by carrying or by utilizing a cart.
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, salads, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position.
• Follow prescribed procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines; choose proper utensils and set lines to ensure appropriate temperature for menu items.
• Serve food items to customers from counters and/or steam tables, in accordance with specific instructions, ensuring appropriate portions are served, and add relishes and garnishes according to instructions.
• Replenish foods, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays at serving stations; may order and replenish condiments.
• Attend to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detect and ensure disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions.
• May clean, wash and maintain work areas, including floors, facilities, pots, pans, service ware, utensils, and equipment; collect and place trash in designated containers; as appropriate to the area of operation.
• May perform cashiering duties, as required.
• May provide guidance and training to other employees performing related work.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
• Knowledge of food service line setup and temperature requirements
• Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards
• Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
• Ability to lead and train staff and/or students
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Frequent physical effort required.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency certificate.

Experience working in food service or supporting food service is preferred, but not required.
