About CWS

Imagine waking up every morning with the chance to change someone's life. Imagine knowing your efforts will benefit both your career and our neighbors around the world. At CWS, our team knows they are making a difference every day. Whether you're in our U.S.-based offices supporting refugees, asylees or unaccompanied children ... implementing hygiene initiatives in Cambodia or rebuilding projects in Central America ... or even connecting remotely from your home on fundraising campaigns, grant reports, or critical communications - you have the opportunity to work towards a world where everyone has food, a voice and a safe place to call home.

Purpose

The Graphic Designer, Marketing and Fundraising is a key position on the CWS Marketing team, a group of creative professionals working together to raise awareness about our work and provide current and prospective supporters with compelling opportunities to get involved. The designer manages all graphic and web design responsibilities for our core marketing and fundraising campaigns, including the CROP Hunger Walk, the CWS Best Gift alternative giving catalog, the CWS Blankets program and several other initiatives.

Responsibilities

Graphic Design and Print Production

  • Fully manage the design of print and digital materials - including brochures, posters, booklets, mailers, postcards, invitations, infographics, icons, logos, ads and more - for annual fundraising campaigns including the CWS Best Gift catalog and CROP Hunger Walk initiatives.
  • Work with colleagues to define specifications for printed pieces, approve proofs and support an efficient print production process.
  • Provide design support to the CRM team for online forms and surveys, event ticketing pages, and additional initiatives through integrated platforms for fundraising campaigns.
  • Facilitate a clear, efficient process to regularly update or archive materials that use outdated images, information or branding.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the digital asset management system and photo library.
Website Design and User Experience
  • Manage design and UX optimization for 6 WordPress-hosted campaign websites, working closely with fundraising and CRM colleagues to understand site visitors and target audiences, define KPIs, and conceptualize a compelling, engaging experience.
  • Develop and manage a schedule for website testing and site design reviews.
  • Assist the Digital Advertising Manager with the deployment of A/B tests and implementation of SEO optimization techniques, and assist with the use of Google Analytics and related tools.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design of email templates and reusable components in our marketing automation platform.
  • Assist with the design and development of quarterly marketing reports.
  • Stay updated on design best practices and standards related to visual design and UI/UX techniques.
  • Other duties related to graphic and web design in support of the marketing team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in graphic design, digital design, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience with website and graphic design projects.
  • A shared portfolio of design work that demonstrates understanding of layouts, typography, color, composition and other design basics applied to both web and other graphic design.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).
  • Experience with WordPress or a similar CMS and a solid understanding of HTML, CSS. Experience with Themeco's Cornerstone or another page builder preferred.
  • Understanding of visual storytelling with the ability to translate concepts to effective designs and online experiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and shift to new priorities when needed.
  • Desire to work in a creative, dynamic environment, collaborating frequently with teams of mostly remote staff.
  • Willingness and initiative to learn new, work-related skills in an independent, self-directed manner.
  • Experience working in nonprofit fundraising and marketing is a plus.
