JOB SUMMARY: The Groundwater Supervisor, reporting directly to the Groundwater Superintendent, will oversee the daily operations and maintenances of the water production facilities, storage facilities in a cost effective and energy efficient manner; assist in planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing and evaluating staff and activities related to operating and maintaining equipment; strategically plan, analyze and evaluate production needs versus available water supplies; and prioritize preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the Operations support crews and Groundwater Operators
  • Identifies, tracks, and monitors training needs of the Groundwater Operators
  • Participates in the interviewing and hiring of new staff; prioritizes, assigns and reviews work, approves time off for payroll purposes, and prepares employee performance evaluations.

 

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises, reviews, coordinates and evaluates the operation, inspection and maintenance of the water production equipment and storage facilities on a 24-hour, 7-day basis; responsible for the efficient operation of the Company's groundwater facilities to ensure TCEQ compliance
  • Develops work procedures and standards to ensure that treated water meets legal standards and that efficient and effective operating methods are utilized
  • Maintains safe working conditions by ensuring that federal, state, and company standards are consistently maintained
  • Analyzes complex operational problems, evaluates alternatives, and recommends solutions
  • Participates in the assignment, training, and annual evaluation of personnel in the department
  • Requisitions materials and supplies required for operations
  • Evaluates and recommends equipment modifications
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient in principles, practices, methods, equipment, and maintenance involved in the operation of water production and associated distribution facilities; handling of hazardous chemicals and storage safety; and ability to interpret plant, piping and distribution diagrams; use resourcefulness, and initiative, particularly in emergency situations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software used by the organization

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Class B Groundwater certificate
  • Five years' experience in groundwater production
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions
  • Must be able to be on call for emergency situations

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Works approximately 10% of time in temperature-controlled environment conducting administrative duties
  • Works approximately 90% of time outside exposed to various environmental factors, which include undesirable weather conditions, mechanical hazards, fumes and odors, excessive noise levels, electrical hazards, dust, mud, confined spaces, poison ivy, chemical hazards, and animal/insect hazards
