Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Group Product Manager will be responsible for the Product Management leadership of next generation Da Vinci Products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Product Design

  • Propose next generation products and services aligned with the company's long-term objectives:
  • Identify and clearly articulate unmet customer needs
  • Evaluate fit of prototype product solutions
  • Evaluate critical business requirements and potential product impact
  • Negotiate core product tradeoffs and create alignment across key stakeholders
  • Draft the top-level product design requirements
  • Draft the validation plan designed to demonstrate the need, solution and business value
  • Clearly define product prioritization in the context of the full product portfolio
  • Evaluate competitive products, emerging technology and its potential impact to Intuitive's product lines

Business Analysis

  • Identify high potential product investigations in terms of potential market size and potential customer benefit
  • Evaluate willingness to pay of proposed product concepts
  • Negotiate core product tradeoffs between cost and performance and align key stakeholders

Inbound and Outbound Business Development

  • Work with the design engineering and business development teams to evaluate external technologies opportunities and prioritize as necessary

Qualifications

Core Competencies, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Highly passionate with a deep connection to product design and product development
  • Ownership mindset, willing to learn Intuitive specific technology, customers, business models
  • Already comfortable or willing to learn medical device design strategy and practices
  • Should have led the design process for successful products previously
  • Unmet need finding, ethnographic research practices
  • Comfortable advocating for iterative prototype development methods, Ideate, Design, Test
  • Sufficient business knowledge to work with finance partners to evaluate the viability of the business around proposed products or services
  • Persuasive communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to set and meet goals based on department and corporate objectives
  • Ability to work in surgical labs and hospital patient care areas is required
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for field related activities. Some international travel required.
