Summary

Supervises, directs and mentors the Supplier Quality Assurance Project Team. Drives the internal and external APQP/PPAP activities to ensure timely and flawless product launches. Reviews systems, procedures and team evaluation to improve the SQA-D efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, educates, allocates and controls the SQA department resources to meet department and company goals.
  • Prepares and presents supplier APQP/PPAP status within launch teams and to Executive Management.
  • Assigns SQAD-Team Lead to new development projects and new external purchased part by commodity.
  • Monitors department participation in design reviews and other engineering reviews between Supplier, Engineering and Purchasing.
  • Monitor compliance to purchasing and supplier quality policies, procedures, documentation, and systems/methods/tools.
  • Ensure interface between project buyers and Commodity Managers; compliance with established commodity strategies.
  • Support project buyer and Commodity Manager in resolution of supplier performance and/or achievement of key targets for the program.
  • Support supplier quality process/deliverables and cost optimization process.
  • Support Director of Purchasing as required.
  • Provide leadership and development of the SQA-D team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline or comparable or Bachelor of Arts with Business emphasis required
  • 5-7 years experience in a purchasing, quality or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in automotive, preferably in a supplier quality role.
  • Must have solid understanding of quality and statistical process control techniques as well as basic manufacturing processes such as light assembly, metal working, electronics assembly, rubber and plastic molding.
  • Knowledge of quality and purchasing fundamentals, mechanical refrigeration systems, automotive heating and air conditioning, and engine cooling.
  • Team leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Data Acquisition systems and software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Ability to write correspondence and trip reports.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and to operate independently.
  • Ability to read computer generated reports and engineering change orders.
  • Ability to be detailed results oriented, and accurate.
