We will count on you to:
  • Assist in basic actuarial/quantitative analysis projects under the guidance of senior project team members in order to assess and calculate costs, rates, risks and trends associated with underwriting health and welfare insurance, brokering contracts, or projecting health care related costs.
  • Gather, organize, test, and review client or vendor data for accuracy, validity, and reasonableness, and to identify any discrepancies.
  • Perform basic analyses and cost projections by using or modifying existing products, tools, and pricing models in Excel, SAS, and other software, with oversight and feedback from senior project team members.
  • Assist senior project team members in preparing reports for data trend analyses in order to summarize findings and recommend a strategy, solution, or plan design to the client.
  • Participate in development of company's intellectual capital in order to develop knowledge of health insurance actuarial services and products.
  • Research, analyze, and review industry, regulatory, and legislative trends for calculating risk, liability, and cost for client or government reports.

What you need to have:
  • 1-2 years relevant prior work experience in an actuarial or financial position
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of data analysis, project management, and presentation design
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and be flexible to work under tight deadlines and changing client needs
  • A commitment to achieving a Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation as demonstrated by having successfully passed at least one SOA exam or other related professional certification

The applicable base salary range for this role is $56,200 to $93,600.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
