Employee Wellness Coordinator

Center for Health Education and Wellness

 

The Center for Health Education and Wellness within the Division of Student Life invites applications for the position of Employee Wellness Coordinator. This position works to mobilize, create, and sustain campus-wide health promotion practices in order to create an environment that promotes employee success and personal development.

The Center for Health Education and Wellness (CHEW) strives to improve the health and well-being of our campus through evidence-informed strategies. We work to empower all Vols to make informed decisions about their well-being and adopt lasting healthy behaviors. Through advocacy and collaboration, we work to develop an environment that supports the community’s decisions.

The Position: This position develops and coordinates health and wellness initiatives for UTK employees. Initiatives include evidence-informed strategies to encourage positive health behaviors and reduce negative health outcomes based on available data. The coordinator will collaborate with stakeholders to develop a comprehensive approach to health for employees. Additionally, this position will coordinate with other wellness coordinators in the office to support campus-wide community initiatives. There is potential for oversight and management of the interns as available. 



Qualifications

Responsibilities:

·       Plan, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services

·       Develop strategic plans, goals, and measurable objectives for health promotion programs and services

·       Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to health for employees

·       Incorporate multicultural diversity and social justice concepts and principles into health promotion services

·       Provide input on management of the overall CHEW budget

·       Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate paid and/or volunteer student staff and/or interns

·       Develop and oversee the content of the website, social media, and print materials, speak to student groups about the CHEW and other health-related departments upon request, and contribute to the promotion of the overall CHEW department

·       Develop, implement, and analyze periodic health surveys that  provide baseline and follow-up health data,  identify program needs and priorities,  evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, and  track trends in student health status and behavior

What We Require

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: One year of related health promotion work experience (2 years of a graduate assistantship equals 1 year of experience) 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·       Demonstrated knowledge to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education

·       Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion, behavior change, and population-based theories and models

·       Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to employees and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on a particular setting

·       Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives;

·       Written/oral/interpersonal communication skills

What We Prefer:

Education: Master’s degree in public health, education, social work, or related field

Experience:

·       Experience working in higher education

Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.
