Coordinates the daily workflow of the histology laboratory to meet the needs of patients as ordered by the medical staff and performed in accepted standards of practice.

Investigates new programs as changes in technology and services needs develop, keeping abreast of new technologies. Implementing new services under the direction of the Anatomic Pathology Manager.

Directs and supervises personnel as regards daily workflow. Assists Anatomic Pathology Manager in evaluating work performance and interviewing candidates for hire. Establishes orientation goals and schedules for new employees. Assists manager in determination of staffing requirements.

Monitors department supplies to ensure adequate stock at all times. Provides input to manager for development of annual operating and capital budgets

Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school preferred

Experience

• Three to five years of experience working in a histology laboratory

• Experience as a lead technologist or supervisor preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• ASCP Certification as a histotechnologist or medical technologist required
