Description
Do you enjoy public service, especially preventing disease and making a difference in the lives of others? If so, the HIV Prevention & Community Engagement Organizer position may be for you.

In this position, you will be an integral part of the DHHS Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Program team and work closely with other professionals to address hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis and to ensure a seamless continuum of care.

Examples of Work
Some of the activities involved in this work include:

+ Utilizing data to determine populations in Nebraska that would most benefit from learning about human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/.

+ Working with community groups, providers, agencies, and entities to provide education, outreach, and marketing about HIV and the importance of testing.

+ Encouraging and making available confidential HIV testing.

+ Ensuring resources, support, and linkage to care and services for persons regardless of test outcome.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in public administration, health sciences and experience in an agency organization with responsibility for planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, and marketing a program or service.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in public health or related field or one year of equivalent experience in a related public health department or field with emphasis on skills or areas such of infectious disease; public health promotion and prevention; federal grant writing and reporting; budgeting and finance; program evaluation; contract management; and marketing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of infectious disease; public health promotion and prevention; federal grant writing and reporting; budgeting and finance; program evaluation; contract management; and marketing.

SKILLS: Computer skills, especially working with Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Webex; emotionally intelligent people skills; and excellent communication skills, including writing and public speaking.

ABILITIES: Working collaboratively as part of a team within DHHS and with partners across the State; holding others accountable; attending both to detail and the big picture; thinking critically; working with priority populations
