Purpose & Scope:

The Project Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the design, testing and documentation of new products as well as supporting manufacturing. This role will collaborate with sales, manufacturing and the customer to provide a solution to the customers’ design challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs.
  • Create & review new designs for conformance to customer requirements & and proper application of engineering principles.
  • Apply, evaluate, and optimize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing.
  • Write test plans and test reports in support of new programs to demonstrate compliance to customer specifications.
  • Interact with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc.
  • Develop technical proposals, cost estimates & schedules for non-recurring engineering activities.
  • Direct fellow engineers as well as designers & drafters in design concepts and optimization to meet strict deadlines.
  • Provide direction and assistance on development and qualification test programs.
  • Serve as engineering representative on the Material Review Board (MRB) to facilitate disposition of non-conforming product.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 4 years related work experience.
  • Proficiency in stress analysis (FEA) & tolerance analysis and GD&T, fatigue analysis, fastener analysis, and material & process control.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer or CREO preferred).
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Mathcad, MATLAB, LabVIEW software proficiency.
  • Familiarity with electronic and hydraulic control system design.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates a sense of urgency in meeting customer expectations and delivering results.
  • Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms.
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years related work experience.
  • Work experience directly related to hydraulic component design and/or manufacture.
  • Prior exposure to metal forming and manufacturing methods & processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects.
  • Proficiency in DMAIC (or equivalent) problem solving methodology.

ITAR Requirement:Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Citizen.

Quality Requirement:Employees will participate in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100 and/or ISO-9001 requirements.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process production parts.
