Job Description

GPI is seeking a Hydrology & Hydraulics Engineer to join our Shelton, CT office. As a successful candidate, you will be interested in stormwater management and drainage design for transportation-related projects throughout Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, floodplain mapping, transportation drainage design, NJDEP flood hazard area, and stormwater management permitting. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing effective drainage systems on various challenging and complex hydrologic and hydraulic projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Storm drainage design, stormwater management, BMP analysis and design, stream restoration, floodplain studies, familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-55, and/or other similar hydrologic, hydraulic, and drainage engineering design programs
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies utilizing HEC-HMS and/or HEC-RAS
  • Prepare Storm Water Management Plans for sites with complex drainage
  • Exercise knowledge of the construction process as it relates to permitting and surveying
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • 2 or more years of professional engineering experience related to the performance of infrastructure, hydrology, and hydraulics design related projects
  • Experience with Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling of riverine systems, floodplain delineation, culvert, and bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, erosion and sediment control design, plan review, and plan and report preparation

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
