Basic Job Functions:

  • Observation and Learning: Actively observing and learning from experienced maintenance technicians and engineers about the processes, equipment, and safety protocols within the DRI facility.
  • Safety Procedures: Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), participating in safety training, and reporting any safety hazards or incidents.
  • Maintenance Assistance: Supporting maintenance technicians in performing routine maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery to ensure smooth operation and prevent breakdowns.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Assisting in maintaining accurate maintenance records, including process parameters, production volumes, equipment maintenance logs, and quality control data.
  • Troubleshooting Support: Assisting in troubleshooting equipment issues and participating in problem-solving activities to address production challenges.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborating with teammates and supervisors to achieve production targets and ensure smooth workflow within the DRI facility.
  • Training and Development: Participating in training programs to develop technical skills and knowledge of DRI production processes, as well as broader skills related to teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Environmental Awareness: Learning about environmental regulations and procedures to minimize the facility's impact on the environment, such as proper waste disposal and emissions control.
  • Emergency Response Preparation: Being prepared to respond to emergencies or incidents within the facility, including following emergency procedures and protocols.

  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Education: High School Diploma. Pursuing a Process Technology Degree.
    • Computer Skills: Familiarity with operating systems and basic computer operations like file management, navigating software interfaces, and using peripheral devices. Proficiency in using productivity software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and data analysis.
    • Work Schedule: a minimum of 20 hours per week.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Understanding of Process Technology fundamentals.
    • Minimum GPA of 2.75
