What you'll be doing:

The Manager, Innovation is responsible for leading a team of Lab Technologists and the short-term planning, strategy, and utilization of Asurion's Technology Lab. The position supports all aspects of technology troubleshooting, internal technology usage, and technology issue resolution for our internal customers, and leverages this knowledge to drive cost-savings initiatives throughout the business. In addition, the Manager, Innovation plays a key role in partnering with our Product and Marketing teams to provide live tours and product demonstrations to prospective clients and investors. The candidate will also ensure initiatives and standards are supported throughout all lines of business through the leadership of the Innovation Lab Tech team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of Lab Technologists in delivering on projects and partnerships from all lines of business, analyzing causes of technology trends and outages, and representing technology capabilities in client and investor visits
  • Develop Lab Technologists to be technology experts for the Content team
  • Lead team members in technology-focused improvement projects
  • Work with ops teams to run pilots, gather and communicate results, and roll out changes within the business
  • Proactively identify cost savings opportunities within operations, develops solutions, and executes change to address opportunities in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Lead teams of Lab members in preparing, traveling to, setting up, and demonstrating Soluto capabilities at trade shows, client shows, or internal Asurion events
  • Prepare for client/investor tours and demos by working with tour requesters to gather requirements and then leads the team in fulfilling those requests
  • Support AOP initiatives as technology consultants to ensure company financial goals are achieved
  • Able to lead tours of the Lab and Mission Control on short notice
  • Able to train team members in presentation skills and necessary knowledge to lead tours and demonstrate Soluto capability to clients
  • Organize and lead events to train operations teams on new and upcoming hardware, software, or technical processes
  • Responsible for staffing and developing Mission Control team, who monitors social media and web for customer-impacting events and outages; communicates to broader Soluto team as necessary
  • Collaborate with all departments within Expert Performance and Operations to ensure technology and research initiatives are properly supported
  • Approve updates and suggestions to existing Lab SOPs brought forward by Sr. Lab Technologist; manage change with team as needed
  • Develop multiple initiatives and spearhead projects to best support simultaneous departments and teams
  • Seek and attend ongoing training to improve service and learn new products and procedures
  • Provide ad-hoc facilitation, strategy sessions, and technology planning services for both Lab teams and external teams
  • Act as the subject matter expert for lab technology and staff capabilities
  • Perform other duties as may be required or necessary

  • Strong presentation skills, executive presence, and ability to present to high-level audiences
  • Strong knowledge of web-based tools and search engines
  • Knowledge of mobile operating systems including Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and Windows phones
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Apple OS
  • Knowledge of Asurion principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
  • Ability to interact and cooperate across departments and functions
  • Advanced collaboration and cross-functional partnership skills
  • Expert analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be skilled in leading diverse work teams from multiple functional areas
  • Successfully manage multiple projects concurrently across multiple lines of business
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment while adhering to timelines and driving projects to completion
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years' experience hands-on experience with the sale, installation, setup, troubleshooting, or repair of consumer electronics
  • 3+ years' experience in the next generation technologies related to cloud, mobile, and social
  • 2+ years' in a leadership role with direct reports preferred
  • 2+ years' experience with administrative duties including tracking and managing data
  • Ability to demonstrate Soluto capabilities for demos, troubleshooting or client/investor visits
