Job Description/Responsibilities

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's School of Education, Health, and Human Behavior is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track instructor position. Preferred applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, with an emphasis on online instructions. The successful applicant will contribute to our growing undergraduate Online Degree Completion program through the development and teaching of program courses. Responsibilities will also include some in-person teaching in the candidate's area of expertise. Teaching responsibilities are four classes per semester, with additional opportunities for summer teaching. Full-time instructors are also required to maintain a "fifth-unit" of responsibility, which is negotiated with the Department Chair.

Minimum Qualifications
Although a doctorate degree is preferred, a Master's degree will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to teach undergraduate courses in areas of expertise and departmental need including, for example, Statistics and Research Methods, Capstone Seminar in Psychology, Social Psychology, and Careers in Psychology. Actual course assignments may vary depending on departmental need.
  • Ability and interest to teach online-asynchronous courses.
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching and working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to departmental and university collegiality through a "fifth-unit" service-related activity.
  • Ability to contribute through interest, research, teaching, and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Terms of Appointment

Full-time, continuing 9-month non-tenure-track instructor position. Summer appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and enrollment. Beginning date of appointment is January 2024.
