Position Description:

The qualified candidate will be responsible for supporting G&C's MSG cybersecurity activities. In support of marine cyber requirements, the candidate will perform various hands-on and process oriented activities, including identifying and implementing security controls, performing risk assessments, and developing artifacts to obtain Authority to Operate (ATO) as part of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for maritime systems. Candidate will also perform duties in support of internal cybersecurity initiatives, such as, Independent Research and Development (IR&D), and operating cybersecurity testing environment. Operating the cybersecurity testing environment would include installing, configuring, testing and troubleshooting tools, software, and operating systems and creating documentation to support their maintenance and operation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity tools, hardware and software, such as, IDS/IPS, SIEMS, FWs, Routers and L-3 switches
  • Experience with maintaining and operating tools such as Nessus, SecurityCenter, and SCAP Compliance Checker
  • Ability to develop cybersecurity plans, such as, Vulnerability Management Plan, Incident Response Plan, etc.
  • Knowledge of DoD security requirements, including DISA STIGs, SRGs, and IA tools
  • Knowledge of NIST publications, such as, SP 800-37, 800-53, and 800-171
  • Knowledge of cyber best practices and frameworks, such as CSF and RMF
  • Ability to support design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of systems

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the U.S. Department of Navy, SPAWAR, NAVSEA, or U.S. Coast Guards
  • Familiarity with Navy's CYBERSAFE initiative, and Defense-in-Depth Functional Implementation Architecture (DFIA)
  • Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and digital/analog sensors
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages
  • Experience in working with Linux OS and terminal
  • Experience with using security tools in testing and virtualized environments

  • Motivation and desire to learn new tools, processes, and procedures related to cybersecurity
  • Ability to work well with other members of the team
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision

Education:

BS degree in an IT or related engineering field from an accredited college/university

Certification and Training:

DoD 8140/8570 approved certification, ex. Security+, GSEC, GCIH, CEH

Security Requirements:

Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
