Education: Required- Enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in an accredited university, preferably in one of the following areas: Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Education, Counseling, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or related field of study.

Preferred : Enrolled in a Master Level Program

Experience: Experience working with individuals and families. Experience working with adolescent youth who are at-risk-youth. Must have basic assessment skills and ability to work as part of a team and as an individual. The FAYS Intern must be knowledgeable in all areas of training curriculum and case management. Experience in group facilitation and public speaking is important.

Summary: The FAYS Intern will be responsible for using sound professional

judgement and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to

the service population especially in crises situations while maintaining compliance with established state and federal standards.

Essential Functions:
1. Must be able to commit to at least one full semester.
2. Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and organizational skills.
3. Ability to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently.
4. Possess sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.

5. Ability to maintain confidentiality with clients and staff.
6. Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively,
7. Excellent group facilitation skills.
8. Public speaking, listening and written communication skills.
9. Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with other employees, staff, and the public.
10. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
11. Valid Texas Driver's license with a clear driving record.
12. Must pass criminal and driving background check.
13. Student will maintain liability insurance throughout their internship/practicum experience(s).

Measurable Deliverables:
1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
2. Assist in facilitating Strengthening Family Program classes, presentations and outreach.
3. Manage classroom behaviors
4. Recruits and organizes Strengthening Family Program Classes and core services for the FAYS program.
5. Ability to connect and maintain rapport with youth and families at-risk.
6. Obtain and maintain community partnerships and utilize community resources to enhance FAYS program services.
7. Ensure approval has been received for FAYS services (Intake, Authorizations, Consent, Protective Factor Survey) forms before allowing youth and families to attend services.
8. Maintains files and program documentation, including data entry, accurately and on time.
9. Turns in sign in sheets and other required documentations for FAYS billing prior to deadline.
10. Reviews all program records to ensure proper documentation and delivery of services.
11. Attends weekly all-staff and FAYS meetings.
12. Maintain and enforce a positive and effective team environment.
13. Supports other transition services as needed.
14. Reports any suspected abuse or neglect to the Director and appropriate law enforcement agency within 24 hours.
15. Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs and activities that promote professional growth and development.
16. Review FAYS client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures and applicable licensing and contract standards.
17. Compile, prepare, submit and maintain accurate records, files, forms and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing and/or contract requirements.
18. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by program director.
19. Implement BCFS HHS safety protocols including evacuating with youth, families and other staff in case of an emergency.
20. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
21. Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BCFS HHS employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code at all times.

Credentials, Skills and Abilities:
1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:
• First Aid • CPR • Other _________________________________________
2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
3. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
4. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)
5. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
c. Work in a fast paced environment.
d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision independently
f. Travel as needed.
g. Manage time effectively and efficiently.
6. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Community Services Division policies and procedures.
7. Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
