Position Summary:

The Operations Engineering Intern will support the Operations Engineering team with commercial products as well as New Product Introduction (NPI). The candidate will work with various departments to aid with product release and sustaining, which may include product testing, troubleshooting and generating documentation. The candidate will be required to document their progress and provide regular updates to the team.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks or projects under the direct supervision of Operation Engineering management or engineers.
  • Assist with engineering investigations, testing, data analysis and documentation tasks.
  • Provide regular updates on progress of assigned task items to support various projects.
  • Support events, meetings, and activities that arise related to assigned projects.

Required Qualifications:
  • Detail oriented, strong written and verbal communication skills. Must maintain effective communication with supervisors and peers throughout the internship.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Hands-on experience building circuits including soldering and wiring.
  • Familiar/Experience with electronics laboratory equipment
  • Able to read schematics and identify electronic components.
  • Interest in, or familiarity with, the healthcare industry. Experience with the medical device industry is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated interest in diabetes is a huge plus.
  • Highly flexible and able to shift priorities as needed.
  • Self-starter with exceptional interpersonal skills.

Functional Description

Scope

  • Work at this level requires following standardized, routine methods, under immediate supervision.
  • Assignments are routine in nature and expectation is to follow pre-established guidelines and procedures.
  • Contacts are mostly within own team and immediate supervisor.

Experience and Education

Educational requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in progress from an accredited college or university (Junior or senior)
  • Master's level candidate preferred
  • Relevant coursework on electronics design, testing, troubleshooting (including hands-on) and supporting documentation (system requirements, test protocol/report, etc.) creation preferred.
