Job Description
Wellesley College has a long history of providing an excellent liberal arts undergraduate education for women. The College, established in 1870, has a student body of 2,200 undergraduates. The Wellesley College endowment had a market value of $3.2 billion as of June 30, 2021. The portfolio has exposure to a broad range of investments across multiple geographies and is managed by the College's Investment Office, located on the College campus in Wellesley, MA.

Position Summary

The Investment Director will be a member of a team of eleven investment and operations professionals who work together to manage the endowment. Investment professionals are generalists who work collaboratively to make team-based investment decisions across the portfolio. The Investment Director will assist in the selection, due diligence, and monitoring of investment managers in several asset classes. They are expected to assist in evaluating prospective and existing investments as part of the team's portfolio management and construction activities. Wellesley benefits from a mature portfolio of high-quality managers making ongoing portfolio monitoring a key aspect of the role. Travel is a feature of manager diligence and monitoring. The Investment Director will report to the Chief Investment Officer and work closely with the Deputy CIO.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be flexible and interested in a broad range of investment topics. A desire to work as part of a highly collaborative team is required.

Core requirements include :

  • Eight or more years of experience in evaluating investment opportunities in an investment organization focused on allocating assets among managers
  • Experience involving private equity, particularly venture and growth equity investments, is a plus
  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical and research skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple third- party relationships
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style
  • Professional and organized work style
  • Competence across the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Burgiss/Caissa a plus
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred
