We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to building a career in the Personal Trust business within our Wealth Management Division. We are seeking a Junior Trust Officer to join our Administrator and Portfolio Manager teams to assist with the timely and effective administration of client portfolios.

This varied role will include engagement with numerous aspects of the administration and investment management of a portfolio, including the preparation of client proposals new accounts set-up, documentation review, annual account & investment reviews, as well as processing of payments, asset creation, liaison with clients and intermediaries and the administration and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date client and statutory records.

This role will suit someone who is looking to develop their career within the Finance industry and is working towards, or willing to undertake, relevant professional qualifications, to ultimately administer their own set of client relationships. Further, able to clearly demonstrate a motivation to succeed and flourish within our progressive and committed team environment

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The JTO serves as both a trainee and resource for the Trust Department Administration and Investment team to learn, provide support and assist in resolution on issues surrounding trust transactions, client statements and asset related transactions, insomuch as acquiring the knowledge to eventually venture into an Administration or Portfolio Management role. Areas of responsibility and expertise include:

  • Provide day-to-day servicing of Wealth Management client accounts.
  • Client service staff assists relationship managers by performing various account-specific administrative /investment responsibilities and/ or provide basic servicing to maintenance accounts.
  • Applicant will have some client contact but primary activities are focused on support of client facing officers, and processing account documentation opening and transactions.
  • Applicant will also be responsible for providing day-to-day client service to the accounts of one or more relationship managers.
  • Researches account and transaction records to resolve discrepancies, and answers questions, or provides documentation on client activities.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for working with the relationship manager and Portfolio manager and provide support with day-to-day customer requests via emails and phone calls (wires, internal/external transfers, collection and completion of internal account documentation and forms clearing documentation exceptions, pipeline reports, etc.)
  • Assist with the implementation of financial & estate plans to include initial documentation, collecting personal financial statements and tax returns.
Organizational Relationships:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • In that this is intended to be a position with upward mobility the applicant would be expected to continue their education and obtain CFP, CTFA or CFA designation, and may be asked to acquire and maintain SEC licenses.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a four-year college is a prerequisite
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; strong client service orientation
  • Foundational knowledge with all facets of trust securities, with strong knowledge of banking and accounting functions, including but not limited to trading, investments, reconciliations, demand deposit accounts and electronic fund transfers
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to learn new software applications quickly
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle large volumes of work; proven attention to accuracy and detail
