LAB RESEARCH ANALYST I

Job Code: 1888, Level 11

Lead management of a mouse colony including: complex breeding, protocols to establish and maintain colonies with three or more homozygous and/or heterozygous alleles; genotyping to identify desired mice breeding and for experiments; complex multi-organ dissections to isolate primary cell; and purification, culture, differentiation, and characterization of those primary cells. (20%)

Independently lead STARR-seq and CRISPR screening assays in those primary cells including: (i) developing, optimizing, high-throughput sequencing, and analysis of complex plasmid assay libraries; (ii) transfection and transduction of those assay libraries into primary cells; (iii) isolation of nucleic acids and generation of high-throughput sequencing libraries; (iv) sequencing of those libraries on illumina sequencing instruments; (v) evaluating and interpreting results in collaboration with the bioinformatics team; and (vi) develop and follow quarterly data production schedules for the above experiments. (50%)

Independently develop and optimize new technologies for production including: (i) new technologies for single cell CRISPR screening; (ii) new technologies for multiplexes CRISPR screens; (iii) improved technologies for high-throughput reporter assays; and(iv) assays published in other labs that could benefit lab research goals. (20%)

Train new graduate students and staff on STARR-seq assays, CRISPR screening assays, and other genomic technologies used in the lab routinely. (10%)

Education/Training

Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific field (biology, genetics, molecular biology). Two year's experience in the lab with ability to work independently.

Job Skills

Ability to work independently, as well as ability to work with a research team. Ability to manage competing priorities. Strong time management and organizational skills.
