BCForward is currently looking for Laboratory Assistant located at Indianapolis, IN 46268

Position Title: Laboratory Assistant

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46268

Expected Duration: 12+ months

Estimated Start Date: 4/29/2024

Pay Rate: $18.00/hr.
Shift: Day (8am-5pm)





Assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations, maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with Laboratory standards in order to help ensure the validity and integrity of experimental results.

* Some Aseptic technique experience preferred but not required as long as they are open to learning.
* Hard worker, good attendance, willing to learn, Highly motivated.
* This is a team of 4 that works on tasks together and individually. They will rotate on the individual tasks to avoid burnout.
* This is not a temp to hire (they could always apply if a perm position became available). If the contractor works well, they are usually extended on a yearly basis.
* Degree and experience is not required but preferred. The team has consisted of HS grads all the way through Masters Degree. Industry ranging from Farming to Restaurant Servers.
* Will be conducting virtual interview.

Media Preparation
Wash/rinse glasswarend equipment, sterilize equipment using Autoclave, fill tubes and bottles with specified solutions, prepare cleaning solutions, deliver supplies to work areas, operate basic lab equipment
CDM Tests
Perform routine lab work, test setup: put plant into trays and tag, make tags for test, thinning plants, and marking plants for mobility tests, and breakdowns (place plants onto another cart)
Greenhouses
Uses of insecticides/fungicides, inoculate and harvest pathogens, wash and move carts, cut flats into single pots, bag and weigh plant material for disposal
Cleaning
Clean lab and greenhouse benches and floors, empty hazardous and non-hazardous waste containers and replace, scrub down Growth and Dew Rooms, and stock of labs and greenhouses with supplies.

Candidates will need to complete a one year term in this role before being considered for another contingent staff role/transition within Corteva.

* Candidate needs to have some basic knowledge of plants.
* Resume and work history facts should display candidates ability to be of sound and professional work ethic, including a highly motivated mindset.
* Work history needs to allow for and present candidate as one with successful efforts with Teamwork and experience in a professional environment, with independent work skills.

Education:
looking for someone with a Biology or Plant Pathology background (up to a Masters level) to join the group this time.
