Sonic Healthcare USA (SHUSA) has an exciting opening for a Laboratory Operations Director in Greensboro, NC.

This role is responsible for business unit financial performance and achievement of budgeted unit growth, Net Revenue, Cost of Service and EBITDA. Additional responsibilities include directing, developing, implementing, and administering effective leadership, operational strategies and tactics, and staffing plans ensuring the achievement of the organization's goals and objectives aligned with Anatomic Pathology (AP) division.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assists senior management and physician leadership in developing short and long range business plans to support the goals of the practice and company.
  • Directs the day-to-day operations of the practice and establishes guidelines to prioritize work production, evaluate effectiveness, and improve the quality of services provided.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies.
  • Responsible for overseeing recruitment, retention, training, orientation, discipline and evaluation of supervisory, clerical and technical associates.
  • Ensure employees are motivated and productive.
  • Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors).
  • Provides guidance, resources, and support to Physicians, management and employees in the practice.
  • Controls staffing costs and growth by evaluating staffing ratios, competencies and requirements.
  • Is accountable for the scheduled delivery of all weekly and monthly reports as requested by leadership.
  • Coordinates practice changes needed to add new tests or expand operations.
  • Orchestrates monthly staff meetings and routine physician management meetings
  • Collects data, prepares reports, analyzes statistics, and answers correspondence.
  • Ensures staff completes proficiency, safety and other required trainings as required by the company and licensure.
  • Completes annual training programs within the required timeframe and regularly attends local, corporate, and staff meetings.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals.
  • Adherence to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety, EPA and OSHA Regulations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare or related field, MBA or MHA preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' successful managerial experience in laboratory administration and/or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of CAP: College of American Pathologists, healthcare administration and policies and operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of P&L management, fiscal management systems and techniques.
  • Knowledge of human resource management practices including supervision and staff development.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, clients, vendors, regulators, third party payers and the public.
  • Skill in organizing work to achieve the company's goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and teams of managers or staff.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to monitor quality control standards.
  • Ability to communicate clear.
