Accountabilities:

This is a 10 month position that will be required to work evenings and weekends. Typical months off will be May 15-June 15, December 15- January 15

Operates and oversees chemical usage and machine program cycles of the commercial laundry facility, trouble shoots when necessary, contacts Facilities or vendor, if needed. Disperses daily practice laundry and equipment, assists with the repair and maintenance of all sport-related apparel, gear and equipment. Performs a variety of duties related to an intercollegiate equipment room, including periodic equipment inventories, inventory control, receiving, checking and recording shortages in daily UPS, deliveries per protocol. Prepare and issuance of competition uniforms, locker room set up of both home and visitors for events, skate sharpening, blade and holder changes, skate rivet repair, eyelets, helmet repair, etc. Familiarity and knowledge in use of an AWL. Operation of sanitation type machines for equipment. Other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director of Equipment Services.

Responsible for day-to-day problem solving of athletic equipment.

Adheres to OSHA requirements, NCAA regulations for equipment safety, AEMA certified or ability to become certified within two years.

Issues, collects and maintains computerized records of lockers and locks when appropriate.

Provides oversight and guidance of student workers when applicable.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Must possess ability to sharpen skates, repair equipment and operate commercial laundry machinery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skate sharpening experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a college equipment environment highly preferred.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree is required.


Certifications:

A current valid driver's license, in accordance with the University's Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Use Policy is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Responsible for following all procedures to conduct work activities in a safe manner including but not limited to wearing PPE required for specific duties and safe handling of chemicals as outlined by University policies and/or the supervisor. Responsible for immediately reporting any unsafe conditions to the supervisor and/or Environmental Health and Safety.
