About the Position:

This is a 2nd shift position. The Layout Welder / fitter position will work in the fabrication of ASME certified spiral heat exchangers fabricated from carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, nickel alloys, and titanium. Will use prints and other documents to layout, fit, and weld using GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW and SMAW processes. All work is ASME certified and stamped.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform fabrication, welding and fitting operations in accordance with ASME and Alfa Laval standards.
  • Must be able to perform x-ray quality open root weld joints in accordance with ASME pressure vessel code in carbon steel, stainless steel duplex, nickel alloys, and titanium materials.
  • Must be able to perform pressure vessel fitting operations on carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, nickel alloys, and titanium heat exchangers.
  • Must be able to read prints, interpret weld symbols, read work instructions, and communicate in a respectful manner.
  • Perform liquid penetrant and other non-destructive testing as required.
  • Perform quality checks and continuously inspect their materials and production to ensure product is in conformance. Identifies and communicates any non-conforming products per SOP or applicable process.
  • Accurately records data on quality documentation, components and product per company standards and/or customer requirements.
  • Participates in the team's continuous improvement and development in accordance with the Alfa Laval Production System (ALPS). Examples include 5S, Problem resolution process (PRP), and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
  • Control of quality, deviations and line stops together with support functions.
  • Organize, and clean workstation both during and at the end of each shift.
  • When needed support team members with immediate problem solving.
  • Support production with other duties as required.
  • Assists Lead or Supervisor with various tasks and training others as needed.

What you know:

High School diploma (GED) minimum. Candidates interested in company-sponsored GED program will be considered. Must have a respectful approach to working with others, including the following experience:
  • Welding degree or certification preferred.
  • 3 years minimum welding experience within a manufacturing environment
  • 1 year of minimum experience in pipe fitting, or advanced training in fitting/welding.

Physical and Environmental Requirements of the Position:
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Stands or walks 70% of workday.
  • Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure)
