Description

The Lead Database Administrator (DBA) position will be a member of the ReaderLink IT Data Administration and Integration team. The person in this position will be the technical lead for a team of DBAs, to define database strategy, architecture, standards and procedures to preserve the security and integrity of company data resources.
What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain databases across multiple platforms and computer environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with database integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, replication, log shipping, connectivity, security, backups, etc.
  • Proactively and regularly recommend and implement improvements to systems and processes, including database health checks.
  • Create and optimize database objects (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints).
  • Create and maintain database documentation, standards and policies.
  • Mentor more junior DBAs.
  • Champion, advise and support Azure database solutions.
  • Install, tune, implement and upgrade DBMS installations, including database migrations.
  • Plan and deploy SQL patches.
  • Pay attention to detail at all times.
  • Set the tone for excellence while building confidence and respect of others.
  • Provide guidance and support to Application Developers and Business Partners.
  • Provide off-hours support, including weekends, on rotation.

What You Will Need:

  • Six (6) plus years of MS SQL Server database experience.
  • Two (2) plus years of technical database lead experience.
  • Two (2) plus years of PowerShell experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Tools (Profiler, Query Analyzer, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, DBCC, Extended Events).
  • Strong background with indexes, index management, statistics, integrity checks, configuration, patching.
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL Tuning.
  • Skilled in backups & disaster recovery.
  • Advanced skills with T-SQL and SSIS.
  • Excellent understanding of database design, modeling, implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent understanding of data and schema standards and concepts.
  • Competency in using Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Collaborative and strong communication skills.
  • Open to new ideas, capabilities, and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, anticipates issues and deals with them proactively (Critical Thinking).
  • Sound judgment and personal integrity.
  • Be able and willing to occasionally travel in the event a business need arises.
