Job Title: Lead Engineer-Fiber/Microwave Communication

Reports to: Senior Manager Telecommunications Engineering
Reporting hybrid to Rochester, NY
The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $101,404‬- $126,755

Job Summary:

Senior technical resource responsible for performing enterprise-wide system design to include microwave, RF mesh, Point to Multi-Point and fiber technologies. Duties include system planning, engineering, documentation, and diagnostics.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Good working knowledge/experience with various types of RF Systems and be proficient in RF design, diagnostic tools, and understanding of various RF technologies. This will include working with various types of antennas, transmitters, receivers, and other RF devices. Will work directly with the NY Smart Metering team to provide engineering support. A general knowledge of optical theory, transport technologies, and the operation of optical transport systems.

1. Supports, analyses, scheduling, acquisition, implementation, and

documentation of communications hardware, software,

and facilities for assigned projects.

2. Resolves complex technical facility, hardware, and software problems

utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools.

3. Manages and maintains up-to-date documentation and procedures that

define the operability of the communication systems.

4. Identifies and evaluates new technologies and

products.

5. Monitors system performance and ensures capacity planning is

performed by assessing and making recommendations for improvement.

6. Interfaces with field technicians, Network Management Center (NMC) and the NY Smart Metering team to ensure proper escalation during outrages or periods of degraded

system performance.

7. May function as a lead position providing guidance, coordination and

training for field technicians.

Job Requirements
Requires a 4-year degree in a technical field, and minimum 3-5 years of

relevant experience working in a telecom engineering /planning role or 10+ years of telecom RF design/Microwave/Fiber experience, with equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the

event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their

regular schedule/job duties.
