The Role

We are looking for Lead Solution Architects who are passionate about leveraging technology innovation for the betterment of humanity. This exciting customer-facing solution engineering solution role will work in partnership with our Edge Development Value Stream, conducting innovative conversations that help shape the growth of our enterprise customers as they embrace the 4th Industrial Evolution. Solution Architects design and architect solutions utilizing our technology services platform. The successful Solution Architect must have a strong desire to leverage their technical and design skills, to understand business requirements, develop a technical solution strategy, and effectively present solutions that address our business requirements and provide business value.
The Lead Solution Architect will be responsible for evaluating business needs and requirements through strategic discovery, utilizing technical thought leadership, discussing industry best practices, and presenting our solution options to product and business leadership based on the specific business requirements, as well as recommending and proposing solutions to our internal partners with a goal to become a trusted advisor by highlighting how our products solutions enabling digital business strategies.
This opening is in Lumen Technologies Strategic Planning and Transformation Organization and is focused on our Edge Computing, Application Engineering, and IT Solutions. 
 

The Main Responsibilities

•   Evaluate and identify our business and technology goals, conduct full technical discovery, and architect solutions to meet the gathered requirements.
•   Assess business and operational impact of solution, craft and propose custom solutions that differentiate Lumen’s services, and meet requirements and goals.
•   Independently complete highly complex and custom designs and advise product and management on the technical aspects of the proposed solutions including fit to business needs, features, availability, etc.
•   Provides technical direction to solution and services in an assigned area from design to production along with technical acceptance criteria, measure of success for the solution. 
•   Maintain knowledge in several of the following areas: code development, Enterprise System Architecture, mainframe development, midrange development, software development lifecycle management, software testing methodology, production deployment, technical architecture, development, and requirements management.  
•   Partner closely with our overall Dev Ops team leads and other Solution Architects to translate the customer's business requirements to define value and solution scope  
•   Recommend solution approach and strategy based on analysis and enterprise maturity  
•   In conjunction with management and the business, ensure that the project is on schedule, is high quality, and meets required ROI targets. 
•   Provides continuous advice and best practices to developers and product team related to delivery approach and strategy 
•   Process documentation and analysis including specification of system requirements for business processes (data, presentation, and logic) 
•   Look for opportunities to implement future technologies in conjunction with Enterprise Architecture. 
•   Assist Product Managers to ensure smooth delivery of solutions 
•   Other duties as assigned

What We Look For in a Candidate

• 5+ years of experience with technology focused in, engineering, consulting or similar background
•   Technical and consulting experience with a progressive track record of increasing levels of solution complexity and responsibility
•   Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Design with ability to act autonomously across multiple technology areas, and a demonstrated proficiency of technical solution knowledge across a minimum three of the four Lumen technology pillars (global network infrastructure, edge cloud capabilities, connected security, communication, and collaboration services).
•   Highly pro-active, consultative, creative and positive with a can-do attitude even in the most difficult circumstances.
•   Expert problem-solving skills and ability to methodically understand and resolve complex issues across multiple products to integrate into a seamless customer solution with demonstrated ability to focus
