Job Description:


The Department of Biology and Biomedical Sciences at Salve Regina University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Biology with a start date of September 1, 2024. The teaching load for this position is 30 contact hours per academic year. The primary teaching responsibilities will be laboratories (lab and field experiences) for the first-year biology curriculum (approximately four, 2-hour sections per semester). Biology 1 is offered in the fall semester and provides an introduction to cell biology, genetics, and physiology. Biology 2 is offered in the spring semester and provides an introduction to ecology and evolution. The successful candidate will also teach additional courses based on their expertise and departmental needs. The department offers a range of courses each semester covering topics spanning cell biology, molecular biology, human biology, and ecology.


The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the faculty members teaching the lecture sections of Biology 1 & 2 and the Laboratory Coordinator to ensure a consistent, robust laboratory experience for all students in the course.

The successful candidate will also be expected to attend departmental meetings and participate in departmental initiatives such as curricular revisions and strategies for outreach and recruitment (e.g., social media presence, virtual and on-campus events).



Requirements:


  • The successful candidate must have minimally earned an MS degree in a related area of biology (or other relevant terminal degree) by the time of hire.
  • A Ph.D. or other terminal degree and teaching experience are preferred but not mandatory.
