Description:

Trinity Health Of New England is looking for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team of mission-driven healthcare caretakers. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting while providing exceptional care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.

Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care to all ages of patients. The LPN assists the Registered Nurse (RN) in the collection of data in accordance with the hospital, nursing philosophy, policies/procedures and standards. The LPN provides direction to ancillary personnel and demonstrates commitment to nursing practice, along with accountability and growth in order to promote best patient outcomes and patient, family and staff experiences. The LPN promotes a safe practice and care environment.

Full access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position as the job responsibilities include handling, preparing and administering medications within the LPN scope of practice and job description.

Work Hours/Shift:
  • Full-Time, 36 hours day shift (7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.) must work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled

You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Exceptional Patient Care: Contributes to overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that impact patient care positively.
  • Excellent Communicator: Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with admin, colleagues, patients and family member.
  • Strong Educator: Educate patients and family members so that they have a transparent understanding of the care being provided.
  • Technical Familiarity: Understanding in computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), email, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Active Teamwork: Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork.

Requirements:
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school or practical/vocational nursing
  • Licensure: Current Connecticut licensure
  • Certification: Current BLS certification required
  • Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices
  • Current enrollment in a RN Program preferred
  • Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience: Knowledge of current nursing, medical and health trends and practices. Excellent skilled observation and teamwork skills. Ability to read, write and speak English and do simple math problems. Experience using a computer highly desirable.
