Job Info

Job ID: 307159

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, a CRH company, is the leading supplier of products specified to close the building envelope. They include: custom-engineered curtain wall and window wall, architectural windows, storefront systems, doors, skylights and architectural glass.

Prerequisites:

Good organizational skills. Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic understanding of electrical systems. Some welding and pipe fitting experience necessary. Basic carpentry skills are necessary. Mandatory overtime will be required.

Nature of Position:

This position involves maintaining and repairing production equipment and plant facility.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Physical Functions

  • This requires that objects such as motors, pumps, welding equipment, etc. be moved from one position/location to another in an effort to maintain production equipment throughout the plant. Muscular and cardiovascular endurance are required, along with upper and lower body manipulation functions in order to perform functions required to maintain machinery such as bending, twisting, and reaching motions. Tight gripping, cupping, clamping hand and wrist motions are required to support, carry and maneuver up to 75 lbs. of objects/glass to platform heights of 3 feet in a manner considered safe for self and others. Certain job functions require a respirator to be worn. Work hours may vary as to the number of hours and start and stop times. The position requires standing on a concrete floor, working under floor lighting wearing steel-toed boots. In addition, the employee must be able to hear commands in a noisy atmosphere. The "team concept" instituted for shop floor production workers requires each worker to perform different functions on a rotating basis. Therefore, all functions are considered essential for the job.

  • Mental Functions

  • Mental endurance is required as some internal stress is created resulting from accelerated paced activities that are required in order to meet customer demands and promised delivery schedules.

  • Work Environment

  • The shop floor work environment is subject to unusually warm temperatures during the summer months due to the heat generated by the glass tempering furnaces. Normal climate conditions of the region will also be present such as humidity; paint/solvent odors will be present if and when ceramic enamel painting takes place. Glass cleaning materials can create some odors in the plant, as well as sealants used in fabrication insulating glass units. While the odors are within acceptable levels, they nevertheless, can be smelled. Dust, pollen and other typical airborne particulate matter are also present within the atmosphere of the shop floor.

    Equipment Used:

All shop power tools and welding equipment. All hand held tools and test equipment. Welding and electrical test meters and torch. Tape measure, distortion tester, recording instruments, nail guns, saw, glue guns, bander and forklift operations.

    Safety:

Safety is a primary concern in our operation, and it is incumbent on everyone entering the shop floor to follow the rules and regulations defined in the plant safety rules. The required equipment will be issued based on the job station and the nature of work being performed.
