GENERAL SUMMARY: Responds to daily work requests for maintenance. Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems supporting the hospital, medical buildings, and other campus buildings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitors, inspects, maintains, trouble shoots, resets and repairs equipment, machinery and/or systems supporting the hospital, medical buildings and other campus buildings. These systems include but are not limited to machine rooms, HVAC systems, Fire Alarm systems, Nitrogen, Nitrous Oxide, Oxygen, medical vacuum systems, locks and hardware, TVs, Nurse Call System, and Tube System
  • Performs plumbing work to include but not limited to: unplugging of clogged drains, replacement of faucet washers, toilet repair.
  • Performs electrical work to include but not limited to: change fuses, resets circuit breakers, and replaces light bulbs.
  • Repairs various types of hospital equipment and furniture.
  • Replaces ceiling and floor tiles and makes minor carpet repairs as necessary.
  • Performs daily rounds for equipment readings and inspections.
  • Responds to emergencies and follows department triage protocol.
  • Responds to service request as dispatched via work order system, or direct page.
  • Provides assistance to all trades as required.
  • If designated to sign waste manifests then would attend Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA) and DOT training on a frequency as required by current law. Completes all annual hospital online training through the Healthcare Learning Center (HLC).
  • Active on shift coverage rotation schedule.


Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma preferably from a trade school or GED.
  • Experience in general building maintenance including knowledge in plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.
  • 1-3 years' experience in hospital maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written manner.
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, problem solve, get along with others and confront issues appropriately.
  • Experience with computers to manage work orders via electronic CMMS using iPad.
