Position Summary:

Business Intelligence Team understands the business needs in terms of Data, Report and BI tools and will build the structure to serve the business needs. The BI Team works as a link between the Business and IT for Data Extraction and Data visualization.

The BI Manager will completely understand the data organization and business nuances that impact the data production, quality or usage. This understanding will allow the BI Manager to foresee impact based on new deployments and process changes. The BI Manager will work closely with the BPM team to support the BPM data needs and also to raise problems in the data generated by issues in the process.

The BI Manager will oversee and support the process to get the business requirements and translate into data extraction to the IT team in charge of Data warehouse. The BI Manager oversees the data transformation and test to ensure the final data has been properly generated. BI Manager will support the Business Intelligence Analyst on his/her development activities to create front views in either MS tools such as Excel or QlikSense - the corporate BI tool.

The Business Intelligence Manager will lead improvement subjects related to data governance, innovation initiatives related to data analysis, new policies regarding data collection and data analysis methodologies, including ensuring integrity of data use. The BI Manager will exchange with other BI domains to make sure data connectivity is being considered while data is generated and will exchange with HO BI teams to ensure corporate initiatives are being supported as well as utilize corporate data whenever available.

This position will be responsible to:

  • Oversee and maintain current Excel, Access and QlikSense Application Reporting tools. Assist analyst with completion when issues or problems arise
  • Lead data governance matters, make sure that the data being built in BI or by the BES team reflect the true business nature and the links to other functional areas are being considered and built within the data, so there is connectivity amongst all functional areas.
  • Work with BPM team to ensure synergy around projects being conducted by the BPM and by the BI team in the same functional area
  • Develop close communication with the head of the Business department. Understand their pain points around reporting and data and address them by creating creative solutions. If needed be, include BPM to address process issues that are causing data problems.
  • Lead new projects related to improvement or completely new reporting functions. Assist Analyst during business requirement phase with the business, review all documentation creation and work with IT / BES Team to build data gathering
  • Assist Analyst on building the proposed solution, either via Excel/Access or QlikSense Application
  • Develop close communication and understanding of all Corporate BI related matters with HO. Ensure that Corporate data is being used whenever available
  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.


    Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years' work experience
  • 2 years Management experience required
  • Understanding of Math functions and Numbers
  • Advanced Excel knowledge required
  • Access knowledge required
  • Database design and data analytics required
  • Business Intelligence Data visualization, including tools such as Tableau and Qlik required
  • Handle all variants of SQL
  • Project Management exposure required
  • Ability to prioritize & delegate: establish priorities, and quickly separate mission critical
  • Attention to detail, and excellent analytical skills
  • Must be comfortable working with large amounts of data
  • Proficient computer skills to include all Microsoft applications (MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Access, MS SQL)
  • Exceptional skill in MS Excel and Access
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proactive attitude, team player, with good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to independently research, analyze data, propose solutions, and assist with implementation of processes which will result in improved productivity and reliability throughout organization
  • Ability to use sound judgement and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable in communicating with all levels of the organization and presenting findings to top management

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipping & transportation industry preferred
  • Knowledge of PIERS and other Market Data preferred
  • LARA knowledge preferred
