Job Summary

The Manager, DC Power Systems Engineering manages the Product Development Engineering team. The team's primary role is to develop new products in concert with our international teams via a stage gate NPDI process. The Manager will work with the team to define and develop the products with emphasis on achieving cost, performance, and schedule targets. Additional tasks of the Manager and team include ETO/SFA development, field /factory support, VAVE (Value Add Value Engineer) programs as well as continuous improvement of the development process.

This role will manage the DC Power North American Power System Engineering team. The manager will track team performance vs demand, improve relevant processes and tools, and track/escalate risks or issues as needed. The DC Power team has responsibilities across North American DC product platforms and regions, with a focus on DC Power New Product Development as well as field and factory support. Continuous improvement of the team, standard processes and task workflow will be a part of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with integrated cross functional teams including Offering Management, Project Management and Compliance to develop new products via the NPDI stage gate process
  • Work with the Global Engineering teams primarily in China and India to integrate into a cohesive development team
  • Work with the Core Engineering team to utilize and leverage common skill sets
  • Participate in corporate initiatives such as audits, process optimizations, brainstorming, etc.
  • Review team member's objectives, goals and performance and provide feedback via Oracle Talent Management
  • Drive implementation of Vertiv corporate tools and processes to achieve overall reduction in development cycles.
  • Build project resource plans and development budgets.
  • Foster a culture in the Engineering community that builds a strong foundation aligned with the Vertiv core principles and strategic priorities.
  • Own project execution relative to product and project cost targets and schedule
  • Ensure the technical accuracy of the team's output
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years' experience
  • New Product Development experience utilizing a Stage Gate Development Process
  • Prefer experience managing a team in an international product development environment
  • Prefer experience in developing new products and concepts with Offering Management, Sales, and customer interaction.
  • Prefer experience in PTC Creo and Oracle Product Lifecycle Management Software
