The Digital Software Engineering Manager grows and manages a group of talent-rich engineers & analysts who are building high-fidelity, customer-engaging digital products, while helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.

Being the technical leader of people who design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve software quality output, plan to bring technical thought leadership focused on future, target architecture, instilling best practices for software development, processes, and documentation, assuring designs meet requirements and deliver high-quality work on schedule.

Coaching and mentoring the teams to grow their technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills through servant leadership will ensure they have the right tools, resources and challenges needed to perform their jobs well; it will also provide the necessary strategic context to inspire and empower them.

Collaboration occurs with the Digital Product team, including Product Managers and Product Owners, Architects, Customer Experience, Brand & Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, and additional stakeholders to deliver value to the business.

You will communicate with peers and senior leadership frequently, own one or more relationships with key technology partners and ensure those partnerships are effective, reporting status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to upper leadership.

Success looks like an energized, happy team, building high-quality software for engaged business partner and customer stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 7/+ years IT experience to include leadership, along with 5/+ years hands-on software development experience as a software engineer, architect, Software Development/Design Engineer in Test (SDET), DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in a cloud-based micro-services environment; experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent international degree Computer Science, Information Science, Electrical Engineering, IT related field of study, or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  • Location: This position has flexibility to work hybrid location (onsite Meridian Idaho and work-from-home #LI-Hybrid)

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of best-practice software engineering practices and the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Working experience and familiarity with CI/CD, Agile techniques for managing work, pairing, mobbing, and shift-left testing
  • Experience in partnering with digital product and program management teams. Experience with, and proponent of, the Agile culture and mindset with the desire to lead the team to follow Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Recognize and ability to incorporate the importance of data, data constructs and related business process improvement to engineering
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, solve problems, scope technical requirements, and prioritize project work.
  • Proven experience authoring & leading teams through the development of roadmap documents, project plans, and root-cause analysis
  • Computer Science fundamentals experience in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, develop and retain top engineering talent
  • Experience with management of complex digital deliverables with limited resources
  • Experience simplifying and communicating complex problems around technology, business processes, user experience and development tasks

Bonus Points
  • Experience building a complete digital product that have been successfully delivered to customers; with code that is durable, secure, scalable and thoroughly tested
  • Proficient with one or more of our core technologies (iOS, Android, Web Apps, API Engineering, Software Testing)
  • Experience partnering in a client services environment with a digital design agency
  • Technology experience in a Healthcare or Health Insurance Industry experience; Experience with health industry and information technology security, legal and privacy policies and practices, audit, vulnerability assessments around HIPAA, PHI, PCI, etc.
  • Experience working in Design Systems, content management and the integration of those frameworks, practices with engineering
  • Experience with broader Digital Transformation and culture change concepts and initiatives
