Waystar is seeking a smart and creative Patient Access Operations Manager with hands on experience in the healthcare revenue cycle. We are looking for a highly detailed individual with polished critical thinking skills. This professional self-starter will report to the Director, Client Operations and work closely with implementation and support staff to assure application optimization client satisfaction. The Patient Access Operations Manager will be a hands-on leader of a talented team of professionals responsible for delivering key backend configurations to the Waystar Prior Authorization suite. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of producing high quality deliverables to meet demanding revenue focused schedules.

What you'll be doing:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Waystar product line.
  • Working knowledge of the Patient Access Revenue Cycle preferred.
  • Hands on experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Applications, and payer websites.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism in communicating with clients and peers both written and verbally.
  • Experience working in healthcare - medical billing, coding, or administration.
  • Organizing market research including analyzing customer segments, reviewing industry research reports, and assessing strengths and weaknesses of competitors
  • Studying healthcare industry standards and staying up-to-date on industry changes and compliance issues
  • Maintaining a comprehensive inventory of payer specific authorization required/not required rules.
  • Continually creation and updating of internal knowledge base documentation.
  • Working closely with internal and external resources to identifying system requirements that meet changing market needs and ensure customer satisfaction and solution accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate technical requirements to technical teams
  • In depth understanding X12 specs' formats, messages, and errors
  • Understanding of Medicare LCD and NCD policies and ABN process.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payer policies and guidelines
  • Foster cross team relationships and develop further training around the Patient Access product line

What we're looking for:
  • You know how to execute and like to roll up your sleeves to get things done
  • You are comfortable in front of a whiteboard and can describe complex information in a concise but thorough fashion
  • An understanding of hospital & professional coding and billing workflows and the provider reimbursement process, obtained either through direct experience in a healthcare setting or an RCM focused HIT company
  • Ability to interpret regulatory guidelines from CMS, Tricare, and Medicaid websites
  • Ability to understand the vocabulary used in hospital & professional revenue cycle operations, including healthcare coding such as DRGs, CPT/HCPC, Revenue Codes, APG and APC
  • Organizing market research including analyzing customer segments and industry trends
  • Possess robust technical fundamentals, especially when it comes to building software
  • Problem solving skills; able to analyze a problem and design creative solutions
  • Attention to detail; extraordinary eye for usability and the customer experience
  • Excellent written communication skills; able to succinctly convey complex ideas through the written word
  • Great people skills; able to facilitate, negotiate and persuade stakeholders
  • Flexible and agile; able to rapidly adapt to changing situations and inputs
  • College Degree required; Business or Computer Science degree preferred
