The successful candidate will report to the Sr. Director -- Federal Tax Compliance and is responsible for managing income tax processes with a focus on state income tax compliance and notice assessments. Important to this role is the ability to operate in a matrixed environment. Candidate should be excited by multi-faceted challenges in the state and federal income tax environment.


  • Manages state & local income tax notices including administering payments, maintaining correspondence with state / local jurisdictions, researching notice assessments, and clearing open notices.
  • Manages state income tax filings and state apportionment requests, collection, tracking, review, reconciliations, and data load.
  • Maintains a master deferred tax asset rollforward schedule of the state attributes.
  • Prepares advanced federal and state tax returns for ADP companies, newly acquired companies, and subsidiaries.
  • Provides support with various aspects of federal and state tax provision, tax compliance, and tax audit.
  • Assists in the identification, development, implementation, and maintenance of automation improvements for the tax department.
  • Assists in special projects and tax planning.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 5-8 years of experience in federal and state corporate tax function and working technical knowledge of ASC 740 accounting for income tax concepts and accounting principles.
  • Ability to apply acquired knowledge and experience in a strategic and compliant manner.
  • Working knowledge of tax software (CORPTAX), Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word and accounting consolidation application (Hyperion).
  • Ability to work independently with a very limited supervision while highly organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating work to meet deadlines. Ability to motivate and train staff to accomplish department objectives.
