Primary Function of Position:
Provides support to the Manufacturing Department in the form of job training for Assembly Technicians and engineers as required. Ensures the effectiveness of training through hands-on training, mentoring, and formal certification. Assist in maintaining MPI accuracy (Updates and ECO creation). Perform dexterity test for candidate screenings. Provide ILT support to Training Specialist, and other duties assigned by management.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· Deliver OJT training courses in the areas of manufacturing skills and processes, quality system/GMP practices and requirements, information technology tools, and other subjects as required.
· Work with Manufacturing Management to identify and prioritize training needs.
· Assess employee skills and provide feedback to management.
· Provide technical support to Manufacturing personnel and the production line as needed.
· Monitor job rotation on the production lines to ensure the ongoing reinforcement of employee skills.
· Perform weekly audits of production lines based on Manufacturing Standards and Guidelines, as needed.
· Manage training and certification criteria and requirements.
· Provide Instructor Led Training (ILT) in support Customer Support Group courses as needed.
· Properly complete manufacturing training documentation. Initiate reports, quality issues, report efficiency, record measurements as needed.
· Cross-train or mentor Trainers in areas of expertise (as needed).
· Author ECOs for redlines submitted through MDCR process and/or other resources.
· Assist supervisor with administrative as well as technical assignment as required (for instance, on-boarding, new hire screening, developing new certification guidelines, etc.)
· Work with subject matter experts to create and implement eBooks
· Support the manufacturing floor tours, as needed.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Support Training Specialist with general duties, as required.
· NPI project -
o Through learning the build process establish criteria for training and certification of new production stations.
o Create new training trackers for the recording of delivered training.
o Establish quantity of repetitions for the Training Phase, Mentoring Phase and total repetitions required for certification.
o Assist in the development of new training curriculum.
o Assist in the DFM list (Design for Manufacturability) process through critical thinking.
o Evaluate assembly processes for Ergonomic concerns and be able to escalate issues of potential risk to management.
o Evaluate manufacturing area and processes for safety concerns and be able to escalate such issues to management.
o Confidently communicate timely, accurate data at the level of Supervisors, Managers, Engineers, and Directors.
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
· Minimum twenty-four months of Manufacturing Training or Manufacturing Lead experience.
· Ability to effectively train ISI personnel to a minimum of five (5) different Systems production lines or 90% of the current IMA workstations and instrument products.
· Ability to train employees to soldering and crimping (soldering may be waived if the Trainer will be exclusively focused in IMA).
· Proficient with MS Office Suite of Programs (intermediate level Excel, PowerPoint, Word, at minimum).
· Ability to present training course material to individuals and a group and to effectively facilitate their learning process.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills.
· A firm understanding of Demand Flow Technology/Lean Manufacturing concepts and disciplines.
· A firm understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Intuitive Surgical quality system requirements.
· Must demonstrate leadership and communication ability.
· Must demonstrate proficiency in Agile and/or SAP.
· Must demonstrate proficiency for training/mentoring other Assembly Technicians and trainers.
