Job Description

Position Overview

The Marine Affairs Manager, Offshore Development, will support the development of the Leading Light Wind (LLW) offshore wind project and, potentially, other current and future projects in the Offshore Development portfolio. The position will lead coordination and outreach efforts across Invenergy's marine interfaces, inclusive of government agencies, harbor and port authorities, fisheries, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support Invenergy and project team interactions with:
    • United States Coast Guard (USCG) and Department of Defense
    • Local harbor/port authorities
    • The merchant shipping industry
    • Maritime focused NGOs
  • Oversee / manage fisheries liaison resources and associated contract
  • Serve as the LLW Project Team conduit to highlight marine related issues requiring feedback/escalation
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key maritime-focused external stakeholders in the offshore wind industry in New Jersey and New York
  • Represent Invenergy and/or the LLW project on various marine affairs committees including but not limited to: the USCG Harbor Safety Committee, American Clean Power (ACP) Maritime committee, NYSERDA Marine Technical Working Group, etc.
  • Represent the project at maritime related outreach events to build a coalition of support and address potential affected stakeholders' concerns
  • Work as key member of the LLW external engagement team, closely coordinating with representatives from other Invenergy organizations and key project personnel including government affairs, communications, environmental permitting, technical, local economic development, labor, and tribal
  • Collaborate with Invenergy technical and environmental permitting organizations in support of various deliverables, studies, and analyses including but not limited to: navigational safety risk assessments (NSRA), notices to mariners ahead of project-related offshore activities, subsea cable routing efforts, etc.
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of communications and advocacy materials including presentations, briefing documents, data analysis, etc.

Required Skills:
  • Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including elected officials, environmental NGOs, civic and business organizations, federal / state / local government agencies, etc.
  • A bachelor's degree required, preferably in a technical or policy related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in related fields, with priority placed on direct experience in energy or military related activities and/or having existing relationships and knowledge of both New York City and New Jersey and the broader mid-Atlantic seaboard
  • Collaborative and "team first" approach to work
  • Excellent communication and strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve problems in fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Able to manage and explain complex, competing issues working with and through others - maintaining alignment with company project wide goals.
  • Excellent MS Office software skills especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the New York metropolitan area and occasionally to other project and company locations.

Salary Range

$125,000 - $140,000
