Marketing Specialist
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and t he Division of Performing Arts are seeking a Marketing Specialist. This position will s upport the missions of the School of Music and the Division of Performing Arts by marketing the academic programs, productions, concerts, and events. Develop and implement marketing plans for respective departments. Responsible for overall School of Music brand in all areas of marketing communications. Works with leadership to establish marketing priorities for concerts, events, recruiting, alumni/donor communication.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee branding strategies and positioning.
  • Maintain brand consistency in all marketing materials
  • Work with SOM Director to define marketing expectations for different levels of performances and productions.
  • Create marketing plans for a limited number of ticketed events that support revenue goals for each event; set respective marketing budgets and define media selection for target audiences.
  • Collaborate with department, collegiate and UI staff on events calendar management and publicity.
  • Produce recurring and one-time publications and brochures such as Iowa Music magazine, Division of Performing Arts season brochure, UI Opera Theater season brochure, and School of Music recruiting viewbook.
  • Develop design concepts for production marketing, carrying over concept into advertising, direct mail, digital, social, and other visual pieces.
  • Provide content development and graphic design for various publications for general marketing and recruiting needs. In addition to production concept, ensure departmental and University branding is reflected in all materials.

Education Required:
A Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications or equivalent education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3 years related professional experience in creation of marketing strategy and execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to write effectively under deadline for a variety of purposes, goals, audiences, and media
  • Proficient in computer software applications including Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative suite, including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Experience in producing social media content for multiple channels, supporting an overall social media strategy
  • Portfolio of work samples that demonstrate quality and relevance of marketing ability through various channels
Desirable Qualifications:
  • MBA in Marketing
  • Experience in performing arts marketing and communication
