The Role

The Material Handler II loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties. The Material Handler II performs many of the same duties as Material Handler I, however, the incumbent is required to be more efficient and will be expected to accomplish more assigned tasks than the Material Handler I. Such as order checking, verifying shipments, and/or identifying variances in orders. The incumbent is responsible for handling special projects (e.g., loading larger, more valuable products) that would not be assigned to a Material Handler I due to the experience level.

Starting Pay: $19.20/Hour in addition to a $1.00 shift differential. Pay can be adjusted with experience.

2nd Shift Hours: 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM Mon-Thursday

JobDuties/Responsibilitiesmay include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance
  • Exhibit and always advocate exemplary safety culture
  • Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic
  • Always exhibit a high degree of integrity
  • Unload, stock and inventory all deliveries
  • Assist with new orders, cycle counts and RFID operations
  • Read and understand SOPs and Risk Assessments
  • Ability to understand Inventory Control Process
  • Exhibits equipment and product understanding
  • Ability to read work orders and follow verbal instruction
  • Counts, weighs, secures, tags, palettize and stacks materials and maintains accurate records of material movement
  • Maintains work area, machines, and equipment
  • Operates and inspects industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
  • Assists in developing a culture that works to achieve and maintain an accident-free workplace
  • Performs other job duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of one years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to become forklift certified within 30 days
  • Must be able to effectively operate hand-held scanner (inventory transaction device) within 30 days
  • Ability to use identification tools (engraver, metal stamps, paint pen) to mark product
  • Ability to read and interpret dimensional drawings
Physical Demands:
  • Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other PPE as required by the department
Work Environment:
  • May regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
  • Noise level: usually moderate
